TechCA Establishes Certification Standards for Members

The Technology Industry Association of California (TechCA) has adopted new certification standards, designed to help small businesses highlight their experience serving California government agencies. While never to be used as a state contracting requirement, the certification is intended to serve as a marketing badge for companies that have demonstrated a track record of partnering with the government.

TechCA State Capitol Day 2025!

On Wednesday (8/20/25), TechCA held its third annual State Capitol Day. A delegation of our Legislative Working Group participated in a series of meetings with the executive and legislative branches of state government to advocate for the association's legislative positions and our mission of creating more trusted and meaningful partnerships between industry and government.

Readout: Cybersecurity Forum – July 9, 2025

The forum featured a discussion with State CISO Vitaliy Panych, moderated by Chris Cruz, focused on California’s cybersecurity posture and strategic initiatives. Panych detailed the responsibilities and operations of the Office of Information Security (OIS), the collaborative structure of the California Cybersecurity Integration Center (Cal-CSIC), audit and maturity metrics, and forward-looking priorities outlined in Cal-Secure, the state’s overall roadmap and framework to enhance the cyber resilience across departments and agencies, a preview of Cal-Secure 2.0, AI governance, and post-quantum security preparedness.

CDT Executives to Keynote Forum on Emerging Technologies on December 5th

State Chief Information Officer and California Department of Technology (CDT) Director Liana Bailey-Crimmins and State Chief Technology Officer Jonathan Porat will give keynote addresses at the upcoming Forum on Emerging Technologies on December 5th in Sacramento. The two speeches will preview and outline California’s technology focus and direction, providing critical insight for the government technology community.

Wallin-Rohmann Joins TechCA Advisory Council

Andrea Wallin-Rohmann, a retired state technology executive and current Director of Client Engagement for the Public Sector at InterVision Systems, has joined the TechCA Advisory Council.

TechCA State Capitol Day 2024! 

On Wednesday (8/14/24), TechCA held its second annual State Capitol Day. A delegation of members participated in a series of meetings with the Executive and Legislative Branches of state government to advocate for our mission of creating more trusted and meaningful partnerships. Representing the industry collectively, our delegation had meaningful conversations about our policy priorities and legislative pending in the State Capitol.

Ben Hafer to Co-Chair TechCA Small Business Committee

Hafer joins co-chair Megan Masten (Acuity Technical Services) to collaborate with TechCA members and lead committee initiatives to advocate for small businesses.   The Small Business Committee meets every other month and advocates for policies supporting small businesses in the technology sector. He replaces inaugural chair Chad Hodges (HSB Solutions), whose commitment, leadership, and expertise helped establish the committee as an integral policy division within California’s first and only public sector technology trade association.   

TechCA Adopts AI Legislative Principles

 The TechCA Legislative Committee has finalized its legislative principles for artificial intelligence as part of the association's legislative platform for 2023.   Development of the high-level policy positions started on May 16, followed by workgroup sessions and monthly committee meetings in June and July.  The principles will help guide discussions between the TechCA government relations team and legislators on bills related to the oversight and implementation of artificial intelligence in California.  

TechCA State Capitol Day 2023!

Thank you to our members who participated in the association's State Capitol Day on Wednesday in Sacramento. It was a great day of meetings led by our Legislative Committee Co-chairs London Biggs and Lorin Alusic, with Laine Cavazos, Courtney Jensen, Dorothy Amaro, Tony Fortenberry, Vidhu Shekhar, Seth Waters, and Bill Maile talking tech policy with distinguished members of the California State Legislature.

TechCA Small Business Committee Drafts Principles for Consideration

For consideration at next week's Small Business Committee on June 6, the following principles have been drafted by committee co-chairs Chad Hodges and Megan Masten.  The list is a starting point for member input and discussion as the committee sets priorities for future activities.   All member companies, regardless of company size, are encouraged to provide feedback and include additional topics.
