Cloud Architect - Department of Motor Vehicles
DMV’s Information Systems Division (ISD) is seeking a motivated individual to serve as a Senior Enterprise Cloud Architect, Information Technology Specialist (ITS) III. The Cloud Architect is a member of the enterprise modernization architecture team who work together as a cross functional cohesive unit. The Enterprise Modernization Architecture Team provides overall architectural guidance, planning, and direction to ensure that the unique products and technology domains stay aligned throughout the project lifecycle.
The Cloud Architect assesses and monitors vendor and state-staff software development products’ compliance with contract terms and technology best practices; assesses current information technology (IT) assets and emerging technology trends to forecast and recommend future cloud and technology acquisitions; assesses training needs related to the cloud technology; develops vendor performance measurements and monitors vendor and product performance against service level agreements as well as expected outcomes; acts as the DMV Enterprise Cloud Architect and is responsible for providing cloud infrastructure, configuration, management, performance, availability, stability, and security leadership; influences and delivers expertise that drives the modernization project’s use of technology to achieve continuous improvement as well as business continuity activities and strategies leveraging cloud solutions; advises and provides presentation and formal recommendations to DMV management and executive level staff regarding technology, governance and policies that support the transformation and modernization of DMV services and systems; provides expertise to define cloud logistics specifications to design, implement, and maintain DMV IT systems and services; designs DMV cloud policy, strategy, vision and structure for new technology systems; oversees the implementation of cloud management programs, and liaising with the development team; and collaborates with different entities in designing solutions to address evolving business needs and legislative bills that impact DMV modernization products and services, ensuring alignment with the overall enterprise strategic plan, objectives and target architecture.
The IT Specialist III possesses a wide and deep practical technical knowledge base, which includes emerging “cutting-edge” technologies; is recognized as an industry expert in their area of specialization, exhibits a mastery level of team leadership qualities, and plays a major part in formulating technological strategy and policy; extensive decision-making authority and directs the most critical/complex projects. Responsibilities at this level include development of enterprise technical architecture, providing strategic and tactical technical direction, and cross-domain expertise at a deep technical level; and performing Software Engineering duties related to the architecture, development, operation, and maintenance of software systems including user research, user-centric design, development or configuration, testing, and implementation.
