Data Architect - Department of Motor Vehicles
DMV’s Information Systems Division (ISD) is seeking a motivated individual to serve as a Senior Enterprise Data Architect, Information Technology Specialist (ITS) III. The Data Architect is a member of the Enterprise Modernization Architecture Team who works together as a cross functional cohesive unit. The Enterprise Modernization Architecture Team provides overall architectural guidance, planning, and direction to ensure that the unique products and technology domains stay aligned throughout the project lifecycle.
The Data Architect assesses and monitors vendor and state-staff data management, repository and required extract, transformation and load (ETL) activities and deliverables to ensure compliance with contract terms and technology best practices; assesses current IT assets and emerging technology trends to forecast and recommend future technology acquisitions; assesses training needs related to data quality, management, key performance indicators (KPIs), reporting, and dashboards as well as analytic technology, standard and practices; develops vendor data discipline performance measurements and monitors vendor performance outcomes; acts as the DMV Enterprise Data Architect and is responsible for providing strategic data management leadership, influence and expertise that drives the modernization project’s use of technology to achieve continuous improvement; advises and provides presentation and formal recommendations to DMV management and executive level staff regarding technology, governance and policy that supports the transformation and modernization of DMV services and systems; manages data functions, including define, extract, transform, load, sync, and archive; analyzes business information and develops standards, analytics, data models, and conceptual database designs; helps establish data governance methods relating to how data is collected, stored, arranged, integrated, and utilized in data systems and organizations; develops database strategy, structure, system monitoring, performance, capacity, and planning for DMV modernization requirements as well as business continuity planning and activities; provides the data management and ETL expertise to define the system logistics specification to design, implement, and maintain DMV IT systems and services; designs the data structure of new technology systems, overseeing the implementation of data management programs, and liaising with the ETL development team; and collaborates with different entities in designing solutions to address evolving business needs and legislative bills that impact DMV modernization products and services, ensuring alignment with the overall enterprise strategic plan, objectives and target architecture.
