TechCA Small Business Committee Drafts Principles for Consideration
For consideration at next week’s Small Business Committee on June 6, the following principles have been drafted by committee Co-Chairs Chad Hodges and Megan Masten. The list is a starting point for member input and discussion as the committee sets priorities for future activities. All member companies, regardless of company size, are encouraged to provide feedback and include additional topics. The meeting should be on your calendar, join using this link or send comments to govrelations@insight.techca.org.
DGS Deputy Director Angela Shell will join the meeting to listen to the discussion.
The draft principles are listed below:
- Support streamlining the professional reference process to reduce workload and hassle on state officials who are required to participate in the process.
- Explore streamlined and transparent ways to reduce net payment terms and communicate the importance of cash flow for small businesses.
- With the goal of increasing communication, education, and advocacy, explore ways to better engage with small business advocates across departments and agencies.
- Support raising procurement thresholds for small businesses doing business with the state (related to 2022 sponsored legislation).
- Share information resources and procedures to help small businesses navigate state processes, such as becoming a certified small business and navigating cal-eprocure.ca.gov.
