Sacramento – TechCA sponsored legislation to expand the use of the Small Business/Disabled Veterans Business Enterprise (SB/DVBE) has passed out of the State Senate this week with unanimous support (ayes 37, noes 0).

Senator Bob Archuleta’s (D-Pico Rivera) bill, Senate Bill 1478, raises the SB/DVBE streamlined procurement option threshold for services and information technology from $250,000 to $500,000, as well as requires the Department of General Services to release guidance on the contracting off-ramp to help increase utilization. The SB/DVBE option threshold has not been updated since 2010.

“We are pleased to see the support of SB/DVBEs as they work to recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 public health crisis and continue to do business with the state,” said TechCA Advocate Madeline Cline.

SB 1478 will be heard next in the State Assembly and is pending policy committee referral.
