Sacramento – Legislation sponsored and supported by the Technology Industry Association of California (TechCA) to expand useability of the Small Business/Disabled Veterans Business Enterprise (SB/DVBE) has passed out of Senate Governmental Organizations Committee.
Senator Bob Archuleta’s (D-Pico Rivera) bill, Senate Bill 1478, raises the SB/DVBE streamlined procurement option threshold from $250,000 to $500,000, as well as requires guidance on the contracting off-ramp be released to help increase utilization.
“While small businesses and DVBEs still work to recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 public health crisis, it is positive to see legislators supportive of expanding successful programs to help these companies continue to do business with the state,” said TechCA Advocate Madeline Cline. “SB 1478 will update the SB/DVBE threshold for the first time in over a decade. TechCA is pleased to see the support of this legislation and appreciates Senator Archuleta for championing this change. We will continue to work with policymakers and collaborate with the state to ensure that the industry’s voice is heard in the implementation of this impactful legislation.”
SB 1478 moves next to Senate Military and Veterans Affairs Committee.
